The Upper Light (the Surrounding Light) surrounds us, ready to enter inside as soon as the proper conditions emerge – correction of our egoistic property to its opposite. Despite our possession of information of our previous stages, this information is concealed from our perception. That is why a long preparation period is needed in our world; for a man to mature, and for craving to spirituality to wake up in him. Sufferings and shocks of fate accelerate this process of maturing. One who has passed this preparation period and accumulated some “critical mass” of suffering starts sensing dissatisfaction, impossibility of fulfillment in the limits of this world, and a subconscious thirst for spirituality. Kabbalists say that his “point in the heart” – the starting point of his sensation of spirituality – wakes up.
