As long as our natural attributes ( pride, greed and desires for power and sex ) don’t disturb us, as long we are not ashamed of them and don’t understand that they are in fact the barrier between us and the spiritual progress, these attributes will not perform the task for which they were created. There is no choice but to be ashamed of what we have inside and understand that until a force comes from above that enables us to be owners of our own desires we will not be happy. The important thing is to direct our desires in the right direction. There is not a single negative attribute in us, only the way they are used can be negative.

Actually, I feel sorry for the greedy little gopher…the other animals…just as greedy…get away with it…yet he suffers…kind of ugly the way he is singled out be the storyteller to make a point…my take!
Let our little hero continue to suffer. Consider that story as a modern fable 🙂
I think that when you say that we have no choice but to be ashamed of what is inside, our animal instincts, you misspeak. Shame will never be the avenue to the absolute. We must learn to embrace our animal nature and the attributes of our lesser self. We must then realize that the True Self is not these attributes of the ego and that these constructs are therefore useless. It is true that we must introspect and check ourselves, but to be ashamed of and hateful towards negative aspects of our self will not further any path. Also you say: “that until a force comes from above that enables us to be owners of our own desires we will not be happy”…That force that enables Happiness and release from the flames of the ego comes from within, not above. Inward strength of being and perseverance show the way, otherwise we are just left waiting and hoping, not truly participating in our own salvation.
There is no reason to agree either argue with you since your story begins with claiming that I misspeak.
You just got your own vision. Let it be.
I find the animation annoying for a completely different reason. I’m tired of small studios publishing nothing but anthropomorphic animals acting stupid.
All the same, greed is dumb.
It’s just in! One man has damaged so expensive painting because he was disturbed by the image.
Think about it, Eric. Won’t you break your monitor?
